QotD: Cinco de Mayo
Are you celebrating Cinco de Mayo?
Ok I have a little to say on this particular topic.
First of all where I live its friggin 5 de Mayo all bloody year so yeah I am a little sick of it all.
2ndly show me where we celebrate the holidays of some other country?? Lets start with our immediate neighbors to the north. What about their holiday Victoria Day? Last I heard, I had never heard of it. What about Aussie/New Zealand and their ANZAC holiday. Again nope don't think so, never heard of it until I married one of those blokies.
Oh and how about the UK and their holidays? This country was founded by a bunch of UKers, you would think that as tribute to that we would have something that requires everyone to take a day off work, get stinking drunk, BBQ (read burn, due to the amount of alcohol in the cooks system) food, eat and be merry.
Nope this silly 5 of May holiday is an assault on my loyalties as an American. I would, however be up to celebrating something like the Mexican American war and our victory. Now that is a war I can get into.

Well my previous comment was truncated and therefore makes absolutely no sense.
What I mean to say was:

This vox commenting features appears to suck ass and I'm about to give up. I was trying to reference this blog I read today that gives some historical background to the day. Maybe this is why it's a big deal??

I had a whole to say, but its not worth it. I live in an area that is more like little mexico then anything remotely suppose to be america. So I am a bit jaded on the hispanic point of view. So I am touchy on this particular subject.
Annie, we actually have an accredited course here at our community college devoted to the history and making of the pinata. We used to anyway. I imagine that it was not a big hit with the student body so they canceled it.
